On November 12, 2021, the Minister of Health of the KR, Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, and the Ambassador of Switzerland to the KR, Olivier Bangerter, visited the renovated Resource Center for Healthcare Management of the Center for Healthcare Development and Medical Technologies under the Ministry of Health of the KR.
Heads of health organizations are responsible for managing health organizations and coordinating processes of continuous delivery of medical services to the population. The Center for Healthcare Development was established in 2019 to ensure the continuous development of their skills and knowledge. Switzerland allocated over KGS 7 million for repair works and equipping the center’s study rooms with furniture, computers, projectors, and interactive boards.
The health of the population and the quality of medical services largely depend on the knowledge and skills of heads of health organizations. “Our goal is to ensure that ordinary citizens receive quality medical care, and the Resource Center will contribute to improving this situation,” said Olivier Bangerter, Ambassador of Switzerland.
In his speech, the Minister of the KR thanked the Swiss Embassy for its more than two-decade support to the healthcare sector in the form of technical financial, and humanitarian assistance. “In 2019, the Ministry of Health, together with the Swiss Embassy, developed a Vision of the need and urgency of making changes to managing health organizations and training competent managerial staff for the KR’s healthcare system. Similar to Kyrgyz State Medical Institute for Continuing Education and Advanced Training, we are planning that the Resource Centre will cooperate with stakeholder partners on building the capacity of heads of health organizations”, noted Alymkadyr Beishenaliev.
The Center will train heads of health organizations as per their needs for effective management. They will also be able to use the services of an e-archive containing domestic and foreign best practices in the field of health management and leadership qualities.
The Resource Center was established as part of the Swiss project on “Strengthening the Health Management System”, which is being implemented by Euro Health Group (Denmark) and the “Health System Initiatives” Public Foundation (Kyrgyzstan) since August 2020.
