Regional meetings on integrating actions on COVID-19 vaccination rollout in the Kyrgyz Republic

With a view to enforcing the Decree of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic “On implementing the Law of the KR «On the immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases»”, the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis, with technical support of GIZ Back Up Health, are holding regional meetings on the integration of actions for further rollout of COVID-19 vaccination in the Kyrgyz Republic – on 11-12 November 2021 in Osh city and on 15-16 November 2021 in Bishkek city.

The goal of the meetings is to update regional vaccination strategies based on the identified operational gaps in the implementation of mass immunization against COVID-19 and to strengthen oversight of safe immunization practices and monitoring of vaccination’s side effects.

During the meeting with regional and district health services and the Ministry of Culture, the sides discussed issues related to carrying out preventive inoculations against coronavirus infection among workers of cultural establishments, entertainment venues, sports palaces, and concert halls, and the following objectives were set:

  • Developing knowledge and practical skills related to COVID-19 vaccines used in the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • Mobilizing resources outside the health system (social protection bodies, local administrations) for arranging accessible vaccination services for priority groups (elderly residents) and ensuring their active engagement;

In the future, the outcomes of discussions and regional meetings will be used to enhance the strategy and activities within the scope of NVAP at the republican level.
