February 4 is World Cancer Day
World Cancer Day is an international awareness day celebrated annually on
February 4. It was proclaimed by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
The goal of WCD is to increase awareness of cancer as one of the scariest
diseases of the modern civilization and draw attention to preventing, diagnosing
and treating this disease.
World Cancer Day brings the public’s attention to the tasks faced by the
world in the fight against cancer and urges politicians and UICC member
organizations to treat cancer as a priority problem.
It is well documented that cancers
can be prevented by following healthy lifestyle rules:
□
Creation of a smoke-free environment and denormalization
of tobacco use;
□
Adequate physical activities and a balanced healthy
diet;
□
Timely vaccination against viruses that cause liver
and cervical cancer;
□
Using protection against sun rays.
